The JD/MPP program provides students with the tools they need to analyze and address complex issues, building their foundational knowledge in public policy and augmenting their expertise with a required concentration in one of five key areas.
The world’s complex public policy ecosystem seeks out professionals that can navigate the halls of government as well as interconnected world of advocacy, government relations and lobbying. Within the Dual-Degree JD/MPP program, students will prepare to engage in public policy with a strong grasp of how to design feasible and strategic solutions.
Through coursework and experiential learning opportunities, students will enhance their ability to communicate and advocate while gaining expertise in a field of their choice. MPP students can shape their experience from an extensive catalog of electives and will specialize in one of five concentrations:
Animal Protection Policy
Clean Energy Policy
Public Policy
Food and Agriculture Policy
Justice Reform Policy
This dual-degree program enables students to earn a JD from Quinnipiac and a Master of Public Policy from Vermont Law & Graduate School in just three years — or about the same amount of time to earn just the JD. The program is flexible and allows students to complete MPP coursework online or at Vermont Law & Graduate School during the summer.

Students gain real-world experience working with attorneys in corporations, government, non-profits and private practice.
Foundational Policy Skills – Graduates will be prepared to engage in policy design, analysis and evaluation, including determining if a policy is a success or a failure.
Strategic Communication and Advocacy Skills – Graduates will be able to use written, oral and graphic skills to communicate effectively and persuasively through a variety of mediums including speech, social media and written documents.
Inclusive Policy Making Skills – Graduates will be able to analyze the impact of current and proposed policies on individuals and communities historically marginalized and underserved by political systems. Graduates will be able to consider and assess diverse perspectives and navigate the complexity that comes with multiple perspectives.
Professionalism – Graduates will demonstrate an understanding of professionalism that involves working effectively inclusively and co-creating an environment where each perspective is considered for the cooperative purpose of making progress toward common goals. Graduates will interact respectfully and appropriately in a variety of cultural contexts.
Foundational and Substantive Policy and Knowledge – Graduates will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a substantive policy field (animal protection policy, food and agriculture policy, community resilience, energy regulation, justice reform) and its role in society.
