Introducing a New Course for Fall 2024

LAWS 714 — Introduction to Legal Research and Information Literacy (1 Credit)

This course introduces the fundamentals of research and information literacy in a legal context. It focuses on both free and subscription-based online platforms and resources, navigating algorithmic bias, the promises and pitfalls of generative artificial intelligence, the legal research process and effectively locating, analyzing and using appropriate secondary sources and primary authority. The course is designed to assist students in preparing for the Connecticut Bar Examination and meeting their professional ethical obligations found in ABA Rule 1.1 regarding legal research and technology competency.
